A couple of things to add to Klondike and irishboy's back-and-forth from the last page.
- Not only is the lot too small to hold 500 cyclists, but the library itself is rather small too. That is just the main party, the one sponsored by the group in charge. Many people hold private painting parties (or not even parties, just paint each other up and go), then skip the pre-ride, and join the rest of the cyclists at the beginning of the parade route, approximately 39th & Leary. (If I had to take a guess, probably closer to 200 at the library and doing the pre-ride.)
- The parade starts at noon (although usually a little later, since nothing starts on time). The bicyclists jump the gun because they're supposed to; they're technically not part of the parade (I believe because the Fremont Arts Council doesn't want to be legally responsible for them). If I recall correctly, the two years I rode, we left the library around 11, and crossed the "starting line" probably 11:30-11:45.
I hope that clears up a couple of things.
