Just do a File, Open and browse to the folder w/ the pics. The thumbnails it shows here are the embedded ones. You can test this with the first set of Cat pics I posted, they still have the embedded thumbnail.

I also use a free program called EXIF Image Viewer (you can see them when you select the Thumbnails view). It's a lot faster (photoshop is overkill just for this). Some other image viewers show the embedded thumbnails when in "thumbnail" mode too.
