Sub-aqua? That's scuba diving isn't it? I guess that has a lot to do with the fact that you're never more than 60 miles from the sea here in the UK, on top of that there are plenty of lakes and estuaries dotted around the country.
Netball, I guess that could be described as a non-contact UK variation on basket ball (much like american football is a sissy USA variation on rugby


). As for the lack of male teams it was traditionally only ever played by school girls while us boys had to play the much more "masculine" football (never ever soccer). I'm sure males now get the opportunity to play netball but I can't see them wanting to as it's still regarded a as somewhat soft and girly sport.
