orientalist postcards
In the late 19th and early 20th centuties orientalist paintings and photos, with romanticised depictions of Arab culture, were popular. The first attachment is an nonymous late 19th century orientalist photo. I believe it is a repost, but I wanted to include it to demonstrate that expicit phtos that would never be accepted in America in 1960 were acceptable in Europe in 1900. I have even seen orientalist postcards with explicit female genital nudity and postage stamps, indicating that these postcards were mailed in France a hundred years ago. The other attachments are orientalist photos by two famous photographers of French postcards, Rudsolf Huber and Marcel Chatelain. I will post some more later.
