Default Hourglass Figure

Once considered as the dream figure, the “Hourglass” has been the subject of classical paintings and sculptures, and has been the most envied of all feminine shapes throughout history. The vital statistics of what was once considered to be the perfect figure of 36/24/36 is what the hourglass ladies are all about. The measurements can be larger or smaller, but by comparison the waist will always be around 9 or more inches smaller than the chest, giving that delightful curvaceous shape.

A 2005 study of the shapes of over 6,000 women, carried out by researchers at the North Carolina State University found that 46% were banana (rectangular), just over 20% pear, just under 14% apple (V shape) , and 8% hourglass – rare indeed.

Contrary to the body shapes of most supermodels, the round and curvy hourglass, with a well-defined waistline, fuller hips and bust and generous thighs has fallen out of fashion. Probably because of this change in the concept of beauty, many hourglass figured women try to hide their curves. But let’s celebrate it.
