This week, California Governor Arnold Schwartzenhoogle signed leglation which will make it a felony to take photos or videos such as these, where the subject has a reasonable expectation of privacy. Most new laws in California become effective on the January first after it is signed. That is the effective date of this one.

I haven't read the law, so I don't know if merely posting the images on a place such as this puts the forum owner in any jepordy, but I doubt it. I believe the law is aimed at the photographer, and possibly at those who assist or permit the photography.

I can't imagine having any reasonable expectation of privacy when riding an inner tube down the river, or body surfing at La Jolla Shores. I'm not so sure about sliding down a water slide, IF the park has rules against photography. I suspect one may have a reasonable expectation of privacy when taking a shower in a home or apartment or hotel room.

It will be interesting to see how this one shakes out.
