My wife and I have gone a bit farther than that, but it started with same room sex in the context of a swing club.
My wife was extremely reluctant, but there had been a lot of stress in our marriage, and she agreed to go to a local swing club on the condition that no one else would touch her. That was fine with me. We had a great time watching others and playing just with each other. I made sure to take very good care of her. At on-premise swing clubs "No means NO!", and no one was pushy.
After several visits, she became much more relaxed about it and started to play with other men and women.
The advantage of an on-premise swing club is that you are anonymous and unlikely to meet anyone you know. You make no commitments and can leave whenever you like without hurting anyone's feelings. The same cannot be said of trying to set up same room sex with friends or acquaintances or (even worse) with some possibly compatible from the Internet.
Off premise swing clubs are also a possibility, since you will meet & greet other couples at a bar or restaurant and get to know them a bit, and agree on your mutual expectations.
We much preferred the on-premise route.
