I realize that, but that applies to practically every pic that goes up here.

Actually, once upon a time, I did not post Flickr pics for that reason. I was one of the few holdouts, showing restraint while others were putting Flickr pics up.

But that was ages ago...my recent campaign to get people to not link to pics that could go up started in the campus naked run thread. There, I was missing hundreds of great pics because I simply was not looking for them in links.
Same goes here - I simply page down until I see a pic. So, keep that in mind as you post links - if enough people were to start doing this, pics would disappear in large numbers from threads, and we would all have to work really hard to go after them.

Copyright law is confusing, but my feeling is if people don't a) mark their photos individually nor b) disable them for downloading, they don't really care that much about protecting them.

EDIT: one partial solution to this would be for the poster to clearly identify that he is linking to pics. Highlight it, put it in the title, etc - i.e. "here is a link to some pics."
