No, Jane has never, to my knowledge, ever been killed in any of her adventures.
Lookitme is correct in identifying the strip in question as Phoebe Zeitgeist.
(Speaking of Jane, I've been doing a little research on that strip, and I may have a li'l sumpin'-sumpin' to say about it in the next few days. Stay tuned. )
