That refers to posts that just say or include the word "bump" for the sole purpose of bringing the thread to the top, or posts that conjole people to respond to a request. Thoughtful thanks posts are always OK, even on old threads. However,
unthoughtful thanks posts (i.e. posts that just say the word "thanks" or some variation thereof) are not OK, especially many of these kinds of posts made at once. That's what the Thanks Button is for.
