Post how to open multi-part .rar files

these are multi-part RAR archives, i.e. a large single RAR file that has been split into multiple parts usually b/c of upload or transfer limitations.

you need a rar decompression utility, for PC the above poster mentioned winrar, but a free alternative is 7-zip, which will decompress .rar files as well as many other types of archives. my favorite on a mac is using the free standalone StuffIt expander utility.

Now the method, no matter what program:
the key is having ALL the parts of the RAR downloaded first in the same directory or folder together, whether there are four or forty segments. (don't un-rar them separately). then either drag the first segment ending with "part1.rar" onto the expander utility or open the utility program (or right click the first segment if the utility provides a context menu shortcut), and select that part one to start with - then it SHOULD automatically "see" the rest of the segments and join them all together into one complete folder containing ALL the files which existed in all the various "part1, part2, etc" segments. hope this helps somewhat.
