That horrible group you were referring to is the "Friends Of Gunnision":, who believe that they control the beach. I go regularly and make sure to avoid them...you can tell where they are because they usually have a big flag set up. Years ago I was there with an old girlfriend, and we took some pictures of each other and just general atmospheric photos because it was our first time there together. One of those F.O.G. guys comes over and tells me that picture taking is not allowed, at which time I told him to go F himself since it's a public place. He then informed me that it was not proper "beach etiquette" to take photos of people who hadn't agreed to have their picture taken, which I completely understand...especially these days...but it was still not his place to tell me what to do. I said we were just taking pictures of each other and only took a couple big crowd shots...nobody specific was targeted...and that I take pictures everywhere I go. After going back and forth for a couple minutes, he said "well I guess you wouldn't mind if I took a picture of you then". I told him it would be awesome if he would take a picture of me and the girl together and asked if he could send me a copy. I don't think that was the answer he was looking for lol. He left and never took a picture and that was the end of it, but it showed me what arrogant jerks this group was made of. This was before most of us had P.C.s so I didn't find out who the "Friends" group was until a few years later, but that shaped my opinion of them for life. I do now respect the rules of etiquette at nude beaches, as I've since learned they're pretty universal, but back then what I was doing was completely innocent. The actions of one jerk, that presumed he spoke for everyone on Gunnison Beach, put a damper on what was an awesome day, and shaped my opinion of the "Friends Of Gunnison" group for life. F them.
