This would have been in December of 1982. I spent a week at a beach hotel in Lome, Togo. At night after the families with kids had gone to bed, the young adults cavorted in the swimming pool. Most of the women were topless and some of them and a few of the men were completely nude. The pool was clearly lit and they were clearly visible from the rooms and balconies on that side of the hotel. If they got too rowdy the hotel staff would come out and shut things down.
