It's a bonafide pic, not a fake.
I had to change the contrast and the brightness on the background in order to expose what was there in the dark. The brightness of the flash makes it hard for the camera to pick up things in the background that are in the dark because things in the foreground reflect the flash's light. Here is the original. If you take the original and you do the same as me by changing the background contrast and brightness, you'll get the same result as the first photo.
