I agree with your statement on the peer-review process. The latter was never an issue for me because I chose to enter the private sector shortly after graduation. As for the rest of your comment you are entitled to your own opinion of course. I recall however how people I had met during my student days from the departments of arts, humanities and social sciences could easily expand on paper and go on and on for stuff that I wish could be squeezed into an equation...
