You don't have a lot of writing experience because you are not in the Law School or Literature Department? I've been at the Univerity, worked in research at the University, have many friends at the University. I've never met anyone with a doctorate, or even with just a masters, who worked at the University and wasn't required to publish. It's publish or perish in fact. Peer reviewed journals - very demanding writing! I'm not talking about just one university either, I mean all of them. You do not even know what goes on at a University, much less hold a doctorate, so move your story over to the fiction section where it belongs, but add some punctuation before you do that.
