Some people sell their pictures to sites like Coccozella. Others hoard and don't share their pictures. As for what you say about the copyright, was there a legal statement at NAP indicating that no pictures could be copyrighted? If not, they can be and are. The Burning Man festival owners will get their lawyers after anyone they find distributing pictures on the internet. So just being on the grounds you must agree to some sort of copyright contract prohibiting you from distributing pictures. I wasn't at NAP, so I don't know if they put up a sign or made people sign anything stating there can be no copyrights.
With all the cameras there, I am amazed there are not more pictures floating around.
