Is there really no alternative to Rapidshare? It's bonkers and I won't be blackmailed into paying for it.

If you really don't want to pay you could always start a collector account, upload content and then post the links for others to download. When someone downloads the files, you gain points. With those points you can eventually get a free premium account to use.

Every hosting out there has a premium subscription rapidshare is just on top and the collectors account is free

same principle as Japanese restaurants in NYC, if one does well on a block you can bet your hat your gonna see at least one across the street :D

rapidshare is just the best ;)

From what I've seen, all of the "Free" hosts make you wait to download the content unless you sign up for an account. RS is just the best in my own personal experience.

I too used to hate Rs, then I signed up for a 6 month account, no turning back now, wouldn't be without it!

Since getting the account I have found a couple of really good forums that just deal with content hosted there, and let me tell you that it is well worth it. I now use it a hell of a lot more than torrents.

So, it looks you can't download clips off of Rapidshare for free anymore? If so, that's a bummer!!

I went to go try to download a clip(from here) earlier from Rapidshare and apparently on their new-ish homepage you have to sign in and pay money to download clips.

Is that true or is there a way around it?

If that's the case, I would recommend everyone using multiupload and doing away with the greedy people at Rapidshare.

I haven't seen too many people using Rapidshare lately. Zippyshare and Mirrorcreator are the hosts we recommend that people use.
