Naked in a Play
 

Does any one have experience either acting in, or seeing a friend/family member in a play that requires nudity? My daughter, Mandy, now 22, has been an actress since her early teens. When she was in college, she was either partially undressed or fully nude in two performances. My wife and I, along with our son, have seen all of her performances, including the nude one, but I don't know if it's appropriate. Her first performance,when she was 18, was the female lead in a British comedy called, "What the Butler Saw." Most of the show Mandy was in skimpy bra and panties, although in one scene, Mandy is in a dressing room and strips down to put on a short, flimsy, low-cut hospital gown. In the performance we saw, the curtain to the dressing room did not close fully, and some members of the audience, including us, saw Mandy fully nude. The scene that followed required some physical comedy, and since she was naked underneath her hospital gown, her ass and full breasts came into view. Mandy later said she was extremely embarrassed knowing that her parents, brother, and friends, had seen her naked. When she was 20, her college performed "Hair"--the original version with the nude scene. At that point she was more comfortable being nude. The theater was smaill and very intimate, so we were very close to the performers as they started to strip down for the famous skinny dipping scene. I was embarassed for my daughter, but still kept my eyes open because I wanted to see the other sexy co-eds. Still, I knew that if I watched the others, it would also mean seeing Mandy naked. Mandy was wearing a denim mini-skirt and t-shirt. She removed her skirt and then her top. She was braless so her full breasts and panties were on display to everyone. Because it was a college production, I thought it might stop there, but she slipped down her panties, and there was my daughter, just a few feet from the audience, completely nude, her breasts and shaved mound on full display. She was surrounded by other sexy girls, as well as naked guys. Afterwards, Mandy told her brother that while it was very embarrassing at first, she also found the group nudity a turn on. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Not as exciting as your story, but I was part of a production where the musicians (me) were off stage--this is also where the women changed due to lack of space.

I saw all of my female friends completely nude for the whole run, including rehearsals. And they were so comfortable with me there (the only male) that they would even hang out naked while getting dressed if they had time (most of the time it was quick changes, though). One woman even turned pages for me during a song--she was completely nude. She couldn't sit in her dresses and didn't want to stand, so she just sat next to me nude, turning pages, then getting dressed a few moments later.

To be honest, I don't understand why there were bottomless as well as topless, but they were a funky bunch even off the stage...

I saw a play once in college, that had a girl in it, I saw around campus.
Nothing really special, but when she was undressed on stage, I found that I really wwanted to be with her.

I never got the chance to go out with her, but I wondered the same thing.

How many brothers, sisters, parents, friends, etc, see her up there.

I realize she is a "character", but those boobs, still belong to her.

Whilst I agree that the post about your daughter sounds odd, I did find it very sexy.

Nudity on stage has always turned me on, and although I have never seen a family member naked in a play, I have seen several productions like Hair, done by student groups, where you just know half the audience is made up of friends and family of the cast!

Whilst looking for info on a recent Edinburgh Festival performance of 'Trilogy' where the all-female cast appear fully nude in several scenes, I read a blog by a girl of 23 who started as a member of the audience (the females in the audience join the cast on stage for the finale, they all sing the hymn Jerusalem whilst being naked!) at it's London preview in May and then volunteered to be a regular performer in the other naked dance section of the show, just because the nudity made her feel special!! To be naked on stage gives a great feeling of being and power, she said.

I would have just liked to have seen the show!!

I think you can sense my mixed feelings about seeing my daughter naked in both plays, and particularly Hair, she was completely exposed to the audience. The theater was very small--a large classroom really. Chairs around the edge of the room, small stage and minimal sets in the middle. Some of the girls in the cast were real lookers, including her friend, Kate. Kate was thin, 19, medium tits, and a long mane of blond hair. I was looking forward to the skinny dipping scene because I would see Kate. Unfortunately, Kate and Mandy were standing close together in that scene so that I knew that watching Kate undress would also mean seeing my daughter strip. I must admit though, when they removed their clothes, I saw them not as daughter and friend, but as two sexy girls getting naked. "Honey, you know, I was just thinking, they called the musical 'Hair' because it was about how people back in the day believed in being natural and growing their hair. It was kind of ironic that your vagina was completely shaved in the play. Were you trying to make a statement? Didn't the director suggest that you stay in character by sporting a less groomed look down there?"
I would like to hear how she answers that!

It would be great if more people could contribute to this thread as I would love to hear more stories. I have never seen a friend or relative naked in a play, although I have imagined it many times.

Closest I can get to a story is about a female friend of mine in college who wanted to be an actress so joined the local drama society. She would have been around 17 at the time of joining.

After she had been there a while there was a session that they had that involved all members performing famous scenes from movies or theatre that involved nude scenes. She had to do a scene with a male colleague fully nude in front of around 30 of her fellow drama students.
I never saw this, she never (to my knowledge) appeared naked in a play in public but she did have to do this. She told me about it some years later, I never asked too many questions about how she felt as I didnt want to come across as a perve. Fair to say by the blushing that even several years later the memory still embarrassed her.

So this was just 2 years ago.. man, why didn't you tell us in advance!!! :):)
