The bottom line is the fact that we don't want people using our forums to try to make a profit. We don't let people SPAM the forums with links or promos for paysites. We don't want people to post links to photo and file sharing sites where the uploader gets paid for getting people to download their files.

The forums are a place to openly share and we don't want anybody to use our forums for personal gain.

i always thought rapidshare sucks.

OCC is the only ZERO SPAM forum I frequent and I'm all over the place on the interweb so I'd like to keep it that way; one of the problems with allowing (L)users to profit from file hosting services is it puts a crack in the dam for spam: linkbucks and 3rd party imaging hosting already make my life on boards much more difficult than I would prefer. Imagerise is riddled with next gen rootkits which is always fun for the whole family, and linkbucks is such a good medium for phishing most boards have banned them. As soon as you let mugs make $ from posting links you get into this nonsense---there is always one monkey in the group that has to try to make a million from posting links and tries to bomb everything in their sights trying to accomplish that nonsense. If RS wants to pay people for download volume instead of premium points more power to them (RS's estimated worth is $80 million) but I am not trying to read posts or PMs for referrals to RS so my vote is don't let it happen, the RS forum is good enough for me :)
