Pamela Stephenson - Topless for the Sake of Comedy
 

Ex-comedienne who was one of the cast members of the British comedy show "Not the Nine O'Clock News". The first video is a sketch from that show, a parody commercial for Jacques Cousteau Bath Salts. Pamela is naked in a bathtub, and we see her breasts several times as she fights with rubber tentacles. It never ceases to amaze me when a comedienne actually takes her clothes off for a silly sketch like this on a sketch comedy show, when, let's be honest, she didn't really have to. Kudos to her for going the extra mile.

The second video is from "Bloodbath at the House of Death". Pamela gets her robe ripped off by an invisible force, and she reacts embarrassedly.

I agree- I think a lot of performers, actresses etc are generally cool about being nude, especially as it's just bare breasts. (Others aren't, of course.)

I think a lot of the silly TV censorship, rules and editting make it the case that nudity is seen as "taboo" when the performers themselves wouldn't really think much of it.

At the time that show was on, bare breasts would have been a "big deal" on TV in the UK. (Which, of course, helps the viewing figures.)

One recent example is that scene from the "American Pie Naked Mile" movie, where they run with the banner held in front of them, thus avoiding below the waist nudity.

Given the success of (eg) the Spencer Tunick projects, and the large ammount of general college nudity around, I feel it would have been simple enough to get performers to do that scene as a full nude scene. However, it's the media, censorship , "limits" etc and rating that are restricting what people show a lot of the time.

Its like until recently a person COULD be nude in a British stage play- as long as they didn't move. Absurd!!


Also, what works in this clips favour on the "it's legimate nudity-and-its-ok-to-do" is the setting - she is in a bath. That does make a difference, as its normal to be nude- other cases might be questioned if it was felt the nudity was "tagged on" or "unecessary." Even with adverts, context is important. There was recently (quite recently) an advert passed by the standard council, which showed a collection of totally bare bottoms girating (in quite a sexy way). It was passed because the product being advertised was toilet paper- so it was judge bare bottoms were relvant!!!
