Amsterdam 2009 WNBR, the first EU 2009 ride!!!

Just as last year, the Netherlands was the first in Europe!!!! With this year a ride in Amsterdam. The reason that we are the first in Europe is that some participants also want to join the London ride and may be some other UK rides like Brighton. The whole week i was following the wheaterforecasts and they were not good. 5 days ago they forecast just only 15 degrees with some rain and even yesterday 17 -18 degrees with a chance of a little rainshower. But when i woke up today (saturday), the weather looked better and i decided to give it a goal and went by train with my bike to Amsterdam.
When i arrived at the meeting point half past twelve there were already some people, sadly enough allmost all men or press/tv people. Some very nice looking girls were unfortunately from the press. :( But there were 2 girls to join the ride. I think we were with only +/- 30 participants due to weatherconditions and forecasts. The weather wasn't that cold when the sun was shining and after one o'clock we went to a nearby park to undress, to bodypaint and prepare our bikes. Also the press/tv made pics and some interviews and at about 14.00hrs local time, after an older lady joined at the last moment we went off for the ride to end up an hour later at the well known Vondelpark. The younger nice looking girl get the attention of almost all press photographers and did also some interviews besides the organiser. Her friend was at home, because he didn't want to join but she liked it very much. She told me that she also posed for art (painters etc.) so may be once we find some pics in the art and nude thread. So enjoy the pics, and apologies for some less quality due to sunlight and weather. ;) |

And i can tell you all, it's a lot of fun to join a WNBR rather then to make only pics. So i hope lots or at least some members are able to join the London and other major EU WNBRs!!!! It's really a very nice experience and you have the best angles to shoot pics. ;) |

MAJOR kudos to stevin6, not simply for getting out there to do it, but also for so many, so large pictures; consider that half a week after the fact, these were the best/biggest I could find, and then compare...are Amstel folk just too blase to think it worth documenting? If so, thank all gods for the provinces and stevin6!

Good work, both of you. Somehow I neglected to respond earlier, in part I guess because I didn't know that those were Stevin6's own pics.
Weather will always reduce numbers somewhat, but there always seems to be a determined minority that will ride no matter what. And in fact, in the case of Eugene, OR - I don't think numbers were all that different in March (45 F and rain) and last Saturday (67 and p/cloudy). Saturday's numbers may have been down because the ride preceded finals week at U of Oregon. Bummer - rides always need to happen AFTER finals have ended!! KLondike |
