i can't imagine its very warm up there in Edinburgh this time of year. Thats why I was surprised to see these so early in the year. And Cocco's event guide has no entry for this event. It should....

One of the pics at Flickr shows a couple in a sex position. I've seen some pics from past festivals where it looked like people were having sex, but it could have been simulated like in this pic. You wonder, though..

Beltane's a fertility festival - traditionally you were supposed to have sex out in the fields to encourage your crops to grow. So if there's sex at a neo-pagan festival, they're trying to imitate their ancestors.

um.....I guess its like teaching the plants about the "birds and the bees and the humans"?

either that or I guess when the "earth moves", seeds respond by germinating..

either that or its just a lame excuse to have sex...

Wow, that' s pretty odd, I must say (first pic). I would avoid using mallots like that on a d'jembé. I use my hands instead. Thanks for the post.

P: On the one hand, THANKS! On the other, though, I'd been so used to only men's loincloths at Beltane being a little too loose, that I'd stopped really searching; now it's back to the grindstone!
