What type of software do people use for editing/converting/compressing mp4 vids?

I use iMovie to edit. It's pretty intuitive to use. Haven't really got to the compressing part. it allows you to export files of various sizes thought.

I dont have any MP4 videos, but if you want to send me one, i'll see what free software is good for using.
