showing your location when you post

Hi everyone,

As a way to learn more about members, I would like to encourage everyone to consider including their location in their user profile so that that info shows up when you post to the forums. I want especially to encourage this if you are from a country other than the US. Include as much info as you like - there is no need to feel pressured to give away any secrets. To do this, click on "user control panel", then select "edit profile". Scroll down until you see the line where you can enter your location. Fill that in, and whatever you put there will immediately appear now to the right of your user name when you post.

I hope you will all consider doing this. That way, I won't have to imagine, for example, that Fango is from Philadelphia, or Osreb is from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. To set an example, i have just added location to my profile too.
Also, think of how this might improve your standing at OCC if your English is not very good. One look at your location (Jamshedpuranasibad, India, for example) would assure others that you are articulate, polite, and erudite, just not always in english, though.

Also, this location would perhaps reveal to all your native language, and possibly expose you to harassing pm's from me asking for hot tips on regional websites. Oh well, there is always a downside....:)

But seriously, please consider doing this as it will at the very least make me happy, bring members together, and create a more enjoyable forum. As Michael Jackson once sang "We are the world....etc, etc" and it was such a groovy, uplifting tune.....yeah.....um. But really, he had the right idea and I have always secretly wanted to know more about the people I talk to everyday here. No, i don't need your astrological sign, though - just your location so that I can look down on you from Google Earth. Thanks!

cheers,

Klondike

Location location location

Now if we could just SEARCH member location we might be able to get like minds together. Don't want anyone to know your area? Leave that blank in your profile.

Respectfully
