OCC vs other forums - one example
 

Recently I was in another forum and found myself in the middle of a minor controversy over the posting of some copyrighted pics. In fact, this particular user had posted thread after thread of copyrighted pics, and i was annoyed. So i pointed this fact out in a post, and initially it caused quite a stir. "Who's been doing that!?" was the cry.

Then the realization hit that it was actually one of the mods that had been posting these pics. And you know what?
Here was the response now, incredulous as it sounds:

"He's a mod and he can do whatever he wants..." (Big shrug, end of controversy.....)

I was amazed at this attitude. Immediately I thought about OCC and how something like that could never happen here. I mean its not about "I'm the King and I make the rules but I don't have to follow them" here. It never has been and it never will be.

So thank god once again for OCC and all the mods that make this such a great forum - that make this, in fact, simply THE best forum, THE one and only.....

That seems typical.

As someone who has broken or at least bent the rules on occasion, I'd have to say the moderators here are very fair and extremely helpful as compared to other places where one might choose to post. But then, I also think that this forum operates on a much more professional level than virtually any other similar forum on the Internet.

OCC is also rather unique because on the whole it's a very positive environment. Just recently, torretxt commented to me that she has felt very welcome at the board, and nobody has been rude or crude to her. I don't think that would be the case at other forums.

I also like the management's decision not to allow members to use derogatory words to refer to women. We are better than that.

So yeah, this is definitely THE forum to belong to. Certainly I've never found a place even remotely similar in quality.

You always hope the new kid won't someday turn into a fat cat that doesn't give a damn anymore, and as OCC has grown, thankfully that has NOT happened.

The new kid matured and turned into a gentleman.

Funny I can't think of a better word right now without sounding a little corny. And I'm trying pretty hard too..

I'm with the rest of you on the great atmosphere here. In all the places I've been on the net this site really has the best members and greatest sense of community.

I think that is what Hugh Hefner and the Playboy philosophy use to be all about. The pipe and the smoking jacket and all....

So lets all get out our pipes, put down the Wall Street Journal, and enjoy ANOTHER evening of.........ONE CLICK CHICKS!

Since finding OCC i have found that i go to other forums less and less. I coundnt even remember my login for some right now. As has been mentioned already some forums have Mods that enforce the rules as and when they feel like it, depending on who the poster is.
OCC is like a little osais of civillization.
