I have a 1gig video that i would like to make smaller.

Thanks, i just looked at it, and i have no idea how to compress the vid :confused:

If you want me to help talk you through it, that would be easiest.
Virtualdub can compress the whole video, but can also cut it up into smaller parts, which can be played on there own.
i have made you a small video clip, showing how to use the compression function.

cool, am glad you got it sussed. Dont forget, you also need to compress the sound, or the file size of the video will be large. Use mpeg-layer3 for your sound compression. If you need instructions how to do it in virtualdub,, let me know and i'll explain,
