Are "whale-tails" becoming a thing of the past?
It is now nearing the end of another summer and I have been extremely disappointed by the few "whale tails" I have seen of the streets of Scotland this year.
I remember a few years ago you couldn't walk a few hundred yards without a teenage babe walking along in jeans with her thong peeking out the top. This summer it has been a rarity. For sure I have seen some lovely babes wearing visible thongs sitting on the bus, park benches or fast food restaurants - but these girls aren't intentionally showing off. Are thongs sticking out of jeans becoming a thing of the past? I hope not. Perhaps it is not as fashionable as it once was or is the design of low-cut jeans changing? Perhaps even girls are becoming more conservative? What does everyone else think? |

Well oddly enough my buddies and I were just having this discussion. It seemed to me that in the last year-year and a half, they just arent around much anymore. Surely girls are still wearing thongs, but I think it isnt fashionable like it was to have them above the top of the pants, or to have the pants ride so low in the back that the thong is way above the top when seated. I have always credited Gwen Stefani with really kicking this craze into high gear a couple of years ago. Clearly someone needs to get it going again, because I for one really miss it!

It seems like styles have changed, and this time for a more conservative look. I couldn't agree more about how hot it is, but it seems like the mentality is that it is 'trashy' to have your thong showing (who knows why).
I have also noticed in the last 12 months girls wearing much longer shirts...shirts that cover their asses. Even tank tops. This may also attribute to the lack of sightings. ALSO: It seems as though the whole 'Abercrombie' look, which was a huge support of the short, tight shirts and lowcut jeens is fading out after a 10 year reign. The irony is that Abercrombie was once more a of a 'conservative' look compared to punk, goth, and ghetto. Everything is cyclical, so we will see. |
Def not gone out of style...though as someone still in college i must say i have more opportunities to view them than most. I almost feel bad...things that are deemed worthy of posting on this site are everyday occurances in my life. Makes me feel like i should take pics every night, even though i only feel bad when there is an unusual event i miss pics of. Last month they had a booty-shaking contest at a party i was working...titties and asses everywhere...my phone camera sucks so bad i did not even get one pic worth posting.

Well, I guess it depends on where you are....I know where I go to school (a university in CA) they are definitely not as prevalent as they were two/three years ago. Certainly you can still see them, but nothing like it once was. (I am talking about out and about during a normal day though...not at a party...in that environment fashion and good sense go right out the window! [thank god!])
Either way....I think it's safe to say we all could use more sights like these: |
Lot of women are changing to low-rise thongs because of low-rise jeans. Whoever invented the low-rise thong/g-string surely is not a man and should be shot.

While in school I once jokingly told my cute classmate sitting in front of me that her thongs peeking out was a major distraction for me. :p
No clue as to what she did coz ever since then, your's truly never got to see them anymore. |
