Cosplay means costume play and is a japanese phenomen. It's when mostly japanese girls put on the same dresses as are wear by female heros of computer games or dresses like schoolgirls, policewomen etc. In Japan there are some public partys and exhibition of this. Hope you enjoy. I don't know if this is a proper place to post them, but if someone likes them I can can post more.

It's hardly only a Japanese phonomenon. You can find it at anime conventions all across the USA. Here's a cosplayer from a convention in Chicago last year. You can find lots of pictures at sites like cosplay.com. But be prepared to look for awhile -- not all cosplayers are good-looking...

I live in japan. Is this in Harajuku or did you just find them on the web?
|
It looks like the one girl in black had a "wardrobe malfunction."

Harajuku
Please Phreak, let us know what Harajuku is. Cosplay is of course an english word so I wonder if Harajuku is just the japanese word for it? I really want to know if there is a difference in meaning.

Oh, and Harajuku is a place. A region of Tokyo, am I right? |
harajuku
Yes, Harajuku is a part of Tokyo. There is a park there where Japanese women dress this way, not near as sexy as in the pictures though. I just always thought they were strange. I never knew why since I don't speak japanese very well. After seeing these pictures I might go there more often now.
