Thumbnails: obvious after you've done it the first time

I'm getting set to post for the first time, but I don't want to blitz some poor soul on a dial-up with the blame-fool beginner's gaffe of in-lining a large, un-thumbnailed image.

The "manage attachments" pop-up is straightforward in and of itself, but... if I upload a 500KB JPG, what do I do to make sure that the posting comes up with a thumbnail linked out to it rather than winding up with the article displaying the full image?

Like the subject line says, once someone's posted with thumbnails one time, s/he knows the drill from then on, but in the searching and snooping I've done to date, I haven't been able to dig anything up to tell me how to do it the first time around.

Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to the forums bass7bone.

The good news is that you don't have to worry about thumbnails. The forum's software will automatically make a thumbnail for every jpeg photo you upload. One thing to keep in mind, we have 300 kb size limit for photos. So you won't be able to upload that 500 kb jpg. 300 kb is huge for photo files shared on the web. If you have larger photos you'd like to share, it would be best to reduce the file sizes to be less than 300 kb.

Have fun posting!

Thanks

Thank-you, sir, for the welcome and the answer.
