Compressing or splitting .mov files

We got a new digital camera that makes .mov movie files. We shot some short vids last night that I was going to post. However, each is over 12mb. Is there another way to compress them besides Quicktime Pro? I'll be working on a Mac.

I use a program called mp4cam2avi to convert the mov files from my camera to avi files, and then I compress/edit with virtualdub. I don't know if that program is available for Mac though, so this might be no help :)

I'm not on a mac so I can't actually check these but a quick search found http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/convert/intro.htm Which told me "Mac has far less choices (Compressor, Cleaner, MegaPegX, ffMPEGx, Quicktime, BitVice ... and that's really about it" So you might try some of those out.

cream1,

I'm not a MAC user so can't offer any software suggestions. Keep in mind that we can always host videos larger than 10 MB on One Click Home Videos if you want.

Good luck.

Thanks,

Funny I gave that a try the other night. I kept putting in the url it said to, but aai was never lead to the right page. I seemed to just be sent back to a homepage. And some never before seen error message appeared in the address box.

If you wanted to upload larger videos to our FTP server, you need to use an FTP program instead of a browser. I don't know what softare is available for MAC. Perhaps someone else can help.

Thanks,

All your splitting/joining needs should be answered here. I just found it and tried some of the programs. They work great I use the HJSplit 2.2 myself a lot.

Please keep in mind we do not allow larger videos split with HJSplit here, because they need to be reassembled. Each video file posted here needs to play on it's own.

Thanks,

You can also sometimes use windows media player to seperate some files. I also use keygen spliter this program. I think this one would be the best for splitting files for occ. The only thing i'm not sure if it works with mac ,mov files. It's a great editing tool for me though. i will upload the rar

*****ZIPPED RAR FILE REMOVED*****
