I found that the extra HD filled up rather quickly also and ended up with the DVD writer anyway. :D Now with the Writer I can burn those videos so they can be watched on any DVD player, for when you don't have your computer handy.

IMHO, the extra HD for your collection only will just delay you burning DVD's later.

There are 2 ways to think it?!? :

i)If you expand your capacity by adding a hdd, you will have limited storage (this means you are restriceted to the capacity of the disks size) but you will have access to your files faster and without changing DVDs or searching to find in wich DVD yo have each file. Also you wont have problems with scratched DVDs and so on.

ii)If you expand your capacity by adding a hdd, you will have practicaly unlimited storage but you !!!MUST!!! use good quality DVDs and use a bag to store them (not the cake-cases,they damage them)

I recomend a DVDRec, you will also be able to write your own DVDs. ;)

Depending on your budget, I'd be inclined to go for both. Neither are greatly expensive now (not in the UK anyway
). If I had to pick one I'd pick a larger hard drive.

wow, a whole hard drive filled with porn. i have 250gb on my desktop, so there's no worries there.

lol,i forgotten say is that my desktop belongs to my brother and he needs it to use to do his work so i cant change any of the part of his desktop

i have my own laptop so i can only get an external hard drive or an external DVD writer. Im heading for the DVD writer but im worried as im not too sure if the DVD writer currently in the market are stable in writing DVDs.

Considering you can pick up 250GB external hard drives for like $150 now days, I'd go with that. You don't have to worry about the media going bad or the cost of good blank media.

However, if you do go with a DVD burner, I recommend the NEC drives and Taiyo Yuden media. A major advantage of going the burner route is that you can also "back up" all your DVD movies.
