Captain Mainwaring (pronounced "Mannering") statue in Thetford, Norfolk UK, where many outdoor scenes of Dad's Army were filmed. 1963-77 BBC WW2 sitcom featuring the part-time militia of those too old/young/sick to be conscripted when Britain "stood alone". Perhaps the funniest scene is when Mainwaring and his platoon are being held in the church hall by a U-boat captain youtube.com/watch?v=_YMVPXmaKds The last member of the cast "Pike" died recently.
