In middle age things have calmed down a bit with my wife. But before we were married she put me through a lot, with cheating, flirting, generally being very turned on by male or sometimes female attention. A lot of those incidents were humiliating, some caused intense pain and rage. I stuck around partly because I loved and still love her and partly (I realise now looking back) because a lot of it turned me on in a dark jealous way I didn't really acknowledge to myself at the time.
