Increase PM box storage?
 

Would it be possible to increase the size of the PM box from 50 messages? The current size is very small for members who have been active for years. Both received and sent messages count towards the 50 limit.

That's something only Admin would be able to do. It's worth asking though.

I agree. Just one PM exchange every third month and pretty soon I'm having to delete the only record I have of how I "know" this other member or that one, or a moderator's specific "ruling" on a certain issue. Maybe the software doesn't allow per-year quotas, but if it does, even setting it to something like 20 per year would give people like me plenty of headroom without opening things up to spam or a lot of forbidden private sharing, or using up too much database space. By the way, I've been here, what? 9 years? And I've never gotten a spam PM or even an annoying request, really. It's probably different for top contributors, but I haven't seen any abuse at all.

Important FYI, there's a feature at the very bottom of the screen when you are looking at Private Messages that says:

So any time you want to clear your items, you can export them first so you have a record.

I hadn't noticed this, thanks, JanniR, that's really helpful.

Anyway, I think it's been long enough and as a 13-year veteran, I'd like to ask again if Admin would be so kind as to bump up the Private Message quota, at least for people with rank Senior Member or better, or people who have been active at least 5 years, or whatever criteria you want to use. I only send PMs a couple times a month, but it would be really nice to be able to have a record on the site itself of who I've talked to and about what. There's a lot of nice people on here, but we never see each other's faces and it's hard to keep different accounts from blending together.
