Upload Manager tried to force Download!!!

Well, I'm having MORE problems with OCC's lousy upload manager. Earlier today, when I was posting files here, it tried to force an unwanted download on me (some crap called Sonic). I had to shut my whole system down to avoid it. This has NEVER happened before. What's going on?

Sounds like you might have a virus or some spyware/adware or something. Don't think it's a problem on our end.

Multiple virus scans haven't turned up anything, and the download problem hasn't happened again, but I'm still leary of that attachment manager.

I haven't had any trouble with it.
Try this stand alone program and do a scan
http://www.snapfiles.com/downloadfin...ef=2&st=norman

maybe that can find something. and if you are using any toolbars, try deactivating them.

Are you using a HP computer?
Sonic Digitalmedia is a program that came installed on
many HP computers to burn, play and copy CD's.
Sounds like it was just an update to a program that
is installed on your computer.

Yes, I have an HP computer. That could be the problem, but it's never happened before (and I've had this computer for years).

For what it's worth, I just experienced an issue with Sonic today. My primary computer took a dump, so I dug out an older 2005/6 Dell XP computer to use temporarily. As I was setting it up, Sonic began trying to access the 'net for install files, even though it wasn't even online. Sonic basically highjacked the machine. I had to force stop it with task manager. In my case, I believe it was hidden in the Dell B/U files and it just auto started. It took me an hour to find an obscure Sonic reference in a file and delete it. CCleaner cleaned up the registry, but it was a pain. I hate being ambushed by hidden commercial software that is imbedded by the manufacturer.
