Bitmap vs. Jpeg?
 

Seems like recently most of the pictures I open on OCC open as bitmap files rather than jpeg. Is there a general shift to bitmaps? Does this reflect a deliberate policy? Or (perhaps more likely) have I inadvertently changed some setting in my own computer that is causing this?

I'm thinking it's a change that you made. I don't think it is possible to upload bitmap (bmp) images to this website.

pics i save from this site now are all comming up once saved as an attachment i think a pdf file it sucks can you help

Temporary Internet Files
 

I've seen this before, nothing to do with the site your downloading from, if you empty image files from your temporary internet files folder, close internet explorer, then try again, should fix.

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\ Temporary Internet Files

Thanks. Cleaning out my temp folder and deleting cookies apparently solved the issue. I also found a folder of "recent" stuff that I emptied. Why any of that would change the format in which pictures opened is beyond me. Computers are just weird.
