A good .jpg editor

Does anyone know of a good .jpg editor I could use? I have several pictures of friends and people I know and the like that I'd like to post, but don't want to show their faces....Microsoft Paint gives you .bmp images, not .jpg, and I want .jpg because more programs can look at them

Actually MS Paint will work.

Right click the image and select 'open with', select paint, edit as desired. When you finish editing, go to 'file', select 'save as', from this point you can name the file and in the second box, you can choose what format to save it in. I like it for blurring faces. For cropping there are others that are easier to use. I also like that I didn't have to buy it. It's already on both of my computers.

Last time I used Picasa, it wanted to take over my entire library. Pictures, videos, podcasts, everything! Their editor does work and is easy to use but wants a little more access than I'm willing to give.

Microsoft Paint does let you save as .jpg just check the settings for saving in drop down menu

Another one I use...

NCH software has a line of photo and video suites that I like. One is called PhotoPad.

hxxp://www.nchsoftware.com/photoeditor/index.html

I mainly use it for cropping but it does have other functions too. You can also go to 'file' then 'save as' and select what format you want to store the image in. The other one from them that I use is Prism Video File Converter.

phxxp://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html

I don't use an i-anything so I use this to convert almost any video format into WMV.
As usual, change the xx to tt to make the links work.

Almost forgot to mention, they're both free!:D

I must admit it is on my machine but I haven't used it in ages.

I am not keen on giving permissions for software to use more than I want to to either.
