Fired because of ENF

Nothing erotic or funny about this, but it is a true story. I kept a USB drive with my wife private photos lot of hc. This drive fell out of my bag at work a retail store I worked at. A week I searched all over my house for the drive I normally leave at it home but one morning it was still connected to my laptop. So I put in my bag.
Well a disgruntled employee found it and sent it to the corporate Hr and I was fired the next day.

I often wondered if he kept any copies.w

If you uh, post some of them, maybe we can look around the Internet for you. :)

I'm guessing you were his boss. There's a free program called FreeOTFE that will encrypt your data on a usb stick drive. Just enter a password every time you want to access your dirty wife photos. Anyway, I hope you find another job soon. This time remember to encrypt. Now let's see some of those photos! :)

Good point Flinn. Truecrypt is another I am familiar with and use.

So sorry to hear that you got fired, but more upset that some asshole in your company found them. Most people will not post your photos for fear of losing their job too. Especially those in charge at your corporate office. So, you can breath easier about this. (and if you find them online, then get a good lawyer and make a case because you have already been punished by the loss of your job with the company) What pisses me off the most, is that these are your photos and not like you were surfing the web at work on their time.

Moving forward. Most companies that make USB stick/disk/flash drives, companies like: Sandisk. Now provide a built in LOCK on their product so you can password lock what you do not want others to see. My only other comment is that even though this cost you your job, at least you know where they ended up and not worried about who really has them now. Also, most people have taken pics of their wife in the nude, etc.. This is not like something unusual or weird that you have done.

Finally, at least you think your wife is hot / beautiful enough to want to take photos of her. Many men can't say that about their wife. Take heart in this and good luck on your next job.

You might consider talking to a lawyer anyhow. There might be a legal clause that requires them to return the USB/stick, disk, back to you, since it is your property and under the circumstances, very private information about you.

If it was me, I would find a lawyer that deals in job loss, personal property loss, company human resources, etc.. if would be worth the fees.

QUESTION??????

How many pictures did you have on that stick/flash drive????????

Did you ask them to prove it to you?

And, most importantly, did you ask for it to be returned to you???????????????

Stupid question of the day, how did they know the stick came from you ?

There are a number of issues here, which as has been pointed out, are worth talking to an attorney about, as it is, there is no probable course for termination, if you had left naked pictures of your wife laying around then yes, having pictures on stored on your property (not on a work computer right) is not grounds for termination.

Failure to return the memory stick also puts the company in a liability position where should a picture make it's way on to the web, then there are only two parties that have it, you and the company. At that point they may as well just break out the check book.

I work for a company that has it printed in the employee handbook, that "pornography" is grounds for termination. So in my case, I would not have a case to argue. However, I think I would have a case about having it returned to me. This does not become Company property. Especially in the way that it was found at work. A mistake. This is why i am asking if you inquired about the company returning it to you. If not, I would submit a letter from an attorney requesting it back. Companies tend to listen or take note of something from an attorney rather than a letter from you or me. Especially if you have it mailed to their company attorney. I hope things work out for you. It is your property NOT there property. GET IT BACK!!!!!

If you will take the time to read what i wrote, instead of quoting me incorrectly, you will find that i ask about proof. Because, when they showed him the stick/flash drive that belonged to him, he could have asked for it back at that point.
