Private messaging
 

Hey everyone- I'm not sure this is in the right category, but certainly correct and discilpline me as needed if I'm wrong.. Well...correct me, that is. :o Tell us, in what context is private messaging used? I know other sites I belong to...ie audio gear, etc, it's obvious. But here? Enlighten me (us) please.

I think you would use it the same way here that you would use it elsewhere. You need to abide by the forum rules.

Otherwise, by way of example, I have used it for the following:

Communicating with other members regarding rules or the reason a post was removed.

I sometimes send PMs to people who find their photos here and ask for them to be removed. Usually, I am encouraging them to stay and post their women here.

I've used it when I don't want my message to be in the thread or on a member's public profile. For example, there was a member whose posts I enjoy, who hadn't posted in a while. I sent a private message encouraging him to post again. If I had put it in an old thread, he might not have seen it, and if I put it on his profile, anyone could see it. (He has started posting again:))
