How do I capture clips from DVD??
 

I have probably a hundred DVD's that I could get clips from, but I'm sorry to say I don't know how?? I have VLC, BC Player, Windows Media Player, and Real Player. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Can someone tell me how to do it with what I have in the way of programs, or another program I can get that is free are relatively inexpensive?? Any help would be appreciated!.. By the way, I am a new member and LOVE OCC!!:)

PS I tried searching this thread, but I don't get along too well with the search feature yet. If there is already a thread here somewhere, kindly direct me to it.

I have VLC on my windows7. It has a record button. You can record a short clip and I guess post them. Those skirt twirling actions are a few seconds; it is not a huge file size to post. I have about same knowledge as you have. This is my best bet. Wish you well. Houston here.

Thanks!..I'll try that. I am in Victoria, not that far from you..isn't that weird this massive thing called the internet and we are only a couple of hours from each other. i once talked to a customer service rep in New Delhi, India who knew where Victoria, TX was!!..

To be honest, I don't know if any of that will work with Windows 7, but it works with Vista.

There are a lot of sites that offer help and links regarding this. Here are a couple:

One of the simplest and easiest to use is a program called 'DVD Shrink'. It was originally created to compress DVD's. But it can be used to edit out segments and leave at original quality or compress to your desired quality. Like Fango, I don't know if it will work with Windows 7. I'm still using XP. But I'm sure that the sites will provide links to accomodate your system. Some are free, some are share-ware, and some cost.

I think I should mention, make sure you follow the rules here. When you say you have hundreds of DVD's, it makes me wonder if you're talking about YOUR original stuff. The rules on this site stipulate that you do NOT post copyrighted material without the owners consent. Do NOT post material with a URL or edited with the URL removed. I'd hate to see you spending a lot of time capturing your DVD's, only to have the post removed because of rules violations.
