Non rapidshare accounts

Hi all

Is there still the same level of animosity towards non-rapidshare accounts as there was a few years ago?

I was a big fan, until the mass exodus a few years ago and am now winding down the clock on both a filesonic and hotfile account - probably about 1 month left in each.

So, to the question....are there any plans to remove filesonic and hotfile from the ban word filter on the links forum? If not, would it be a breach of the rules to change the link to something like f!lesonic as I'd rather not irritate mods by trying to circumvent the rules.

There are no plans to remove Filesonic or Hotfile from the ban filter. As long as the sites are banned they should not be posted by shortening the URL or by using any other method.

Thanks for asking.

The trouble with some file hosts is they have schemes that pay back people who upload based on the downloads (and advertisement views ;)) that they generate. As a result, SPAMMERS just love to post those links everywhere. That's why we have chosen to ban/censor the URLS of sites that use this sort of "pay per download" scheme. It protects us from a lot of unwanted SPAM. I would not recommend trying to post URLs to any of those sites with clever misspelled names. It will irritate the MODS and they will simply delete that kind of post.

As far as free hosts go, these days we do recommend uploading with multiupload.com
