Carnivals, girlie shows and fun houses

Has anyone got any photos from the old rural carnies? I loved going to ride the thrill rides, eat bad food, and trying to get into the girlie "hoochie-coochie" shows, even though I was too young. The ones I saw had several girls strip nude, but then you had to pay more to see the exotic rug show where they would lay down and spread their legs. Some allowed men in the audience to lick the girls' between their legs and one chose a guy in the crowd to climb on the stage and get a BJ. You never stood up close if you wore glasses because the girls would "clean" your glasses for you on their bushes.
Almost as much fun was standing outside the funhouse and wait for a girl to come out in a skirt and have the airjet blow the skirt up. Some girls knew it was coming and gave a great show. Others were totally surprised. This was before women began wearing slacks everywhere. Here is a great photo of a surprised girl getting the air jet. |

Based on that one pic, I'd have to say "please, sir.....may I have some more??!!" thanks, Klondike |
Love this concept. Wish I had some to offer, but sadly don't. Here's hoping others do.

Was at this sort of carnival somewhere in Virginia in the mid 60's.
Pretty amazing. I'll never forget the MC announcing that the girl was, "Now going to take your picture with her box camera!" Then she bent over. |
I never had the pleasure to see one of these shows, but sure wish I could have!!! Great topic!!!!!

There is a French documentary entitled "Strip forain à la Beaucroissant", it's about about the last strip show that still exist in such rural carnivals in France. They used to be very popular at some time, but they have almost completely disappeared within the last 20 or maybe 30 years. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbs...oissant_webcam |
Or more precisely, the last strip show that has existed in rural carnival in France, since just after that documentary in 1998, it ended definitively.

A possible lead??
I got an e-mail from a friend that there is a group that has photos of the famous stripper, Virginia "Ding Dong" Bell, and one of its photo sets has photos from the old carnival tent shows, some of which she appeared in. Does anyone know about this?
The ones I saw when young were in northern Georgia, and I went to a couple when in college in the Carolinas. |
