Kazantip

If you see pics from a beach that has what looks like dead palm trees growing on it, it is probably from Kazantip, a huge rave festival held every year on the Black Sea between Koktebel and Odessa. Most of the nudity seems to be just topless, but there are lots of pics if you scrounge and occasional nudes are mixed in.

Searching under Kazantip is very productive, but it can also be spelled "Kasantip" or "Kazantyp". Using the Russian alphabet version is better as you would expect, but there are variations in its spelling too. There will be tags at Photofile.ru and Fotoplenka.ru that you can click on to bring up lots of pics.

The festival lasts five weeks and employs 300 DJ's. People have been known to never make it back to civilization when its over :) Look at the pics and see why. The same thing would happen if Burning Man went on for that long.

enjoy,

To search "Kazantip" in Russian: On my mac, I switch to my Russian keyboard and hit these qwerty keys "rfpfynbg"

What that should spell in Russian is shown in the second pic below. The first pic shows you what you get when you search Google images using that term. Some times the third letter is replaced with a Russian "z", but its less productive and I couldn't find a "z" on my Russian keyboard.

Klondike....

I found those on Flickr, a good few of the ones you posted were in the same set, its one persons holiday set....

http://www.flickr.com/photos/13293713@N07/

looking through those and some of the other pics I have found the following search terms:

казантип
крым
kazantip
крым
щелкино
казантип
crimea
shchelkino
kazantip
Sevastopol

Meaning some of the photos had those as tags.

I havent searched any yet, so dont know what they mean, along the same lines lines as your request for translation help in another thread, If any non-english speakers could come up with good search terms maybe....

Well, all except "Crimea" !!!

Andyadc - I don't know how you got those Russian characters to display in OCC. I tried it once and it just printed question marks. Anyway, thanks for the terms. Some are geographic references, I know that. Which brings up something I can't figure out. They hold this festival in different places according to one source, and I've seen maps to two different locations. But the pics are always from that same beach and they can't possibly move all that stuff around every year....? I still don't know exactly where that beach in all these pics is located - on the Black Sea or Sea of Azov. Yeah, someone that speaks Russian would be good to talk to right now...

thanks!
