Mardi Gras 2013
 

I haven't been able to find a 2013 Mardi Gras thread, so I'll start one. I took this first batch a week ago on Friday.

Why do they only bare there boobs, and not go totaly naked :) Would like to see more :) :) :)

The police are out in force on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras and are both very tolerant of boobage and very quick to respond to any problems. They will cite or arrest for anything shown below the waist or public urination, so no totally naked folks ala Key West. That sometimes happens in the bars, but the bar owners no longer encourage the nudity as they did a few years ago.

I'm curious. Would you post your favorite 5 photos you took this year? They can be ones from above (if they are your favorite). I wandered bourbon very little this year and I'm curious if I saw any of who you thought was the best.

The first 50 I post on my site are normally what I consider the best shots from each year. I'll probably be able to post all 50 here eventually as I edited them all both with and without watermark. I really like the sixth shot in the second batch. I try to post pictures that show people being crazy or having fun. This one has it all:

1 - Look at the woman in back with her tongue stuck out at the crazy angle.
2 - The woman flashing is beaming
3 - The guy holding the large hurricane drink just to her left is so drunk you know he won't remember that night
4 - The hand in the crowd reaching for her breast.

Also in the second set I like the "Facebook me" girl. She was on a balcony last year and every time I see her she's having fun. When I started going to Mardi Gras in 1998 (shooting on film) no one was worried that you were taking their picture. In the early 2000's they were worried that you were posting it on a website. No I get "Please don't put that on Facebook (not that you could!) Her response is bold!

It's not really legal to flash, but it's accepted. It IS legal to walk around in body paint. A few go topless but are so covered by beads they are legal. I asked the woman in the first group, fifth picture to take her picture, then if she would move the beads to the side. She had that big smile!

Another big smile is the woman on the balcony (2nd group, third shot) who's having her nipple sucked on by the topless black guy.

I'll probably have more favorites when I post more, but those are my top ones for now.

BTW - It did seem to me that there were far fewer serious photographers working Bourbon Street this year, so that may be why we're see less photos posted.

Yeah, that really is a great shot. LOL.
Well, with my limited time there, I saw none of that.
The best I saw was a woman with her front painted w/ "Cross Fit" in the same way that Facebook girl did her front. It was the best ad for Crossfit I've ever seen. ;)
