Nue York: Self Portraits of a Bare Urban Citizen by Erica Simone

This idea isn't entirely new (as Spencer Tunick fans can well attest), but I hope we can agree that her execution if flawless. She's a young, talented, twentysomething photographer who happens to be drop-dead gorgeous. She also apparently enjoys taking self-portraits, and being naked in public in those self-portraits. Voila.

Seriously, her twist is somewhat unique, and I think extremely sexy. According to her statement on the web site, even though she's the model, she actually shoots all the photos herself, with the help of a shutter release. So here we have a girl taking pictures of herself nude in public. It's art, it's sexy, it's sexy art. What's not to love?

Oh, and she's also a pretty good photographer. These are some pretty cool shots, and not just because she's naked in them. And her other stuff is good as well. Just google her name and you can see her other (less naked) work.

I was going to put this in the Free Sites section, but to avoid the "can anybody save these?" comments, I just did the heavy lifting for you guys and posted them below. The photos on her site are fairly small, but whenever possible I substituted larger images found on other sites. As far as I can tell, these are all the photos of the series that are currently available, but I would love to be proved wrong.

Thanks for the assist. I did have that missing photo, and thought I posted it. I'm glad you caught it as it's one of my faves. As far as size vs color vividness, I had the same concern and tried to post the "best" version of each photo, but I think it's a good thing to give everyone as many versions as possible and let people decide which ones they like best. (Edit, after seeing them, I realize in a few cases they're both bigger and better quality, which is all too the good, thanks again).

As others have noted, they're great pics as well as sexy ones so they deserve to be seen in the best quality available.

I would encourage anyone who liked the pics I posted above to download Fango's zip.

Nue York - The Complete Collection

It's been a while since we've checked in with this project. There's nothing new, but I did discover that Erica turned the photos into NFTs a couple years ago:

The photos are available on that site in the highest quality that I've ever seen them in. Several have been posted in that quality before, in the posts immediately above, but not all of them, and I believe there are also some photos there that were never posted in this thread. So, I decided to put together a definitive collection of all of the Nue York photos in one place. There are 50 "official" photos in the project. These are ordered according to the numbers that were assigned to them on the NFT site. I'm not sure what the significance of these numbers might be; it's not strictly chronological, since the photo she says she took first is #2 and the photo she says she took last is #42. The photos are officially unnamed, but I decided to give them descriptive/clever(?)/funny(??) titles, just for fun. There are also 9 "outtake" photos that were only ever posted at her personal website years ago, but are no longer there, and are harder to find now outside of this thread. If anyone has or knows of any more of these "outtake" photos, please post.

There are also 3 videos associated with the project, two interviews and one promo, which obviously can't be uploaded here, but they'll be available on my MEGA for as long as my MEGA exists:

It was important for me to feel the same sense of bravery and to do my best to not let vanity hold me back from creating, which was another goal of this process: to overcome certain insecurities... some of which I did, some of which I still haven’t. But that’s just human nature, I guess. The project is really about feeling complete in our skin, without the need for clothing or fashion to dictate who we are as people, so within that, it was important for me to be comfortable, regardless of how I was feeling about myself physically.

Like KeiXght LeiXghn, Erica presents another fascinating psychological case study of a woman who, self-professedly, is not an exhibitionist, who felt all of the nerves and vulnerability and discomfort and fear that getting naked in public could possibly entail, and yet still pushed through all of it anyway, receiving a thrilling rush of adrenaline each and every time she disrobed for all of New York City to see, bravely baring all for the sake of her art. It just makes an already sexy (OK, sorry Erica, "silly/humorous") photography project that much sexier.

Over the years I've lost most of the content I acquired back during the period when I was most active on this board, and it's kind of a bummer that so much of it (rapidshare links... sigh) is gone forever. However, the one small consolation is the occasional reemergence of exquisite content like this re-released in the higher quality formats that weren't available back then. Long story short, your efforts to update/upgrade this thread are greatly appreciated!
