What would you pay for a photoshoot?

Not sure where to put this- this forum seems the best place .

I'm NOT looking for a definative answer, just wondering really.

(Assuming you are an amateur/hobby photographer) What sort of price would you feel was the "going rate" to pay a semi-professional model for a 2 hour photoshoot, up to nude?

You DON'T need to have any knowledge or experience to answer this- please contribute anyway.

I'm just wondering, it's for a (non-commercial) project I am thinking of doing. (Essentially a how-to guide).

Please respond- it helps a lot if you do.

I looked into hiring some girls a while back from a few modeling sites and actually contacted some. It seemed like the going rate for Artistic Nude was $50 to $100 an hour. For Erotic Nude or Explicit Nude it seemed to range from $100 to $250 an hour, depending on the model. I would say you could probably get away with offering $100 for a 2 hour shoot (for new or semi-pro models). Once you start getting into pro models you're looking at over $200 an hour just for swim suit shots. I was looking at American models in my area so the rate could vary for UK models.

AUS Models is a good site to browse and get an idea of some price ranges. Might even see one you like and one that has a decent price.

Thanks for the imput- it's interesting to know what people would pay, and what the (actual and percieved) "going rate" is.

What I've noticed is that professional models actually offer rates comparable to amateur models (ie not much more expensive)- the reason being a pro needs the work (after all, they do this for a living) , whereas an amateur model probably is doing it for fun, or a bit of a second income.

:) I hate so much to bump- but to add-

This isn;t necessarily a question for guys with experince, or even an active interest.

Essentially, we all like chicks, right?

So, what would you be happy paying to do a personal photoshoot? ANY opinions are valid--- I' am "going somewhere" with this!

I don't mind the bump, I had missed this one in the past.

If you're advertising this as a research/educational project, I bet you could get someone for $40-$50/hr. Instead of offering an hourly rate, I might offer a flat payment of $200 or $250 for an afternoon. I think a gal would be more willing to "work" as an actress for a seemingly legit video compared to posing for some horny guy's personal pleasure.

There's some great information (and even better photos) from dst6. Check out this thread:

Here's another - $500USD for three days:

The entire thread is awesome - more awesome work from dst6.

And another - $200USD per shoot:

You have to read through the entire thread because dst6 provides great background information about the pictures and the experience. It's awesome material!!!

Those rates are very similar to the "standard" rates in the UK -put bluntly, it's surprisingly affordable.

One of my old girlfriends was a model sort of... she was connected to some agency/company there amateur models could be found by amateur photographers. This was in Sweden for like 8-10 years ago and the price was of course different for different kind of sessions and also different if the photographer was known or unknown to the agency, if he had good rating etc.

But for example (what I can remember) a regular shooting could give her around 250 dollar, she did a lot of bondage modelling as well, those gave her between 600-1200 dollar per session. In these sessions I think the photographer was only allowed to take a specific number of photos, of course no touching of the model or anything other kinky infront of her. Even though - maybe since it was amateurs - strange or not allowed things happened from time to time, sometimes the photographer got kicked out from the agency and sometimes the girls agreed to these things for more money.

Thats unsual- in virtually all cases I think the rate is based on time, not pictures taken.

Of course. :o

Whilst some models might allowe "interaction" , thats not normal. There are, of course, "other women" who provide that.

I dont know for sure, cant remember exactly and I was not that much involved in how the shoots was made. But I remember her talking about a certain amount of pictures taken per session.

I'm sure protocol differs from person to person- maybe too changed due to the rise of digital.

I'd say nowadays it's mostly done on time (or just a job rate).
