Flaming Lips video shoot in a Portland Park
 

Darn! And where was I - a scant 15 miles away when all this was occuring? YUP! These pics are from a Flaming Lips video shoot that took place yesterday in Mt Tabor Park, Portland, OR. Flickr has pics from at least four different photogs up, so I'm sure nobody would have minded if one more had shown up. And had I known about this, you can be sure I would have been there and would have made sure a few more full frontal pics were recorded for "posterity" (if that is the appropriate word to use, or is it "anterity"?) Anyway, after the shoot, there was a short naked bike ride. Pedro, are you listening? The world seems to be, at any rate - these naked bike rides are becoming as common as summertime skinny dips!

Here are the pics I've come up with so far. I'm hoping some other, better ones surface.

Thanks karl and fango - this is exactly what I mean when I talk gleefully about the spread of naked bike rides. He saw WNBR pics on the internet and thought "man, that would be a great idea!" This makes all the work I do as a photographer seem worthwhile!!

One of the guys that attended and posted pics at Flickr told me he heard about it thru twitter. that is another point to make - keep your ears and eyes on twitter if you want to know whats going on in your area.

Hope this satisfactorily assuages your concerns, at least for how it was shot if not for what the final result might be...

this is what I like about this event - no body paint. I mean, for once, you have a totally unobstructed view of skin.

That is exactly what I was hoping for, I wonder if they perhaps rehearsed it topless and just went fully naked for the final take. I know that cinema nude scenes are done this way.

Some more pics from the Flaming Lips video shoot in Portland, OR. Apparently, the video is due out at any time, and its called Watching the Planets". Watch for it....

Two of the pics below intrigue me because they were obviously not taken at Mt Tabor Park. The nudes are in an open, grassy location, and I think it might be near the Portland Airport. This was a two day shoot, and maybe they moved the second day? And to think I could have been there to witness all of this if I had only known about it!

Three more from the shoot itself, then another from the mystery location, which the flickr user who posted the picture there described as a) "between shots," and b) "At Gus van Sant's house."

that black and white pic is awesome - the best of all, and wish it could be in color, but its great anyway.

and unless Gus van Sant lives on a houseboat in the Columbia River, I'm a little dubious about that assertion about the second locale. But who knows -

Okay, it'll take forever to download with my dialup, but it's out: so tell me, is it censored, even though described as NSFW? http://www.nme.com/video/bcid/49582897001 Also, when I found this picture I also read that the clothed shots were AFTER the naked ones; apparently a park ranger at Mt. Tabor made them cover up when he arrived, and some shooting was done afterwards. Finally, Klondike: another (regrettably no-public-nudes-) gallery at Picasa from that portion of the shoot was tagged "Sauvie Island," so perhaps that answers your van Sant location question...

OK, first the bad news: the music sucks.

But.....the sound track could been nothing but fingernails on a blackboard and I'd still watch the vid over and over again. Because the good news is........TONS OF FULLY NAKED BODIES FROM START TO FINISH! Wow! What an awesome sight. :) Its got to be the nakedest music video ever. So enjoy those Portland girls. And I wish I'd been there because the more pics and vids i see, the better this event gets.......

It's your personal opinion...I don't agree with you...it's Flaming Lips song style, i love it!

sorry about that. I wasn't really passing judgment on the band and their music, just that particular song which didn't quite seem to match the awesomeness of the visuals, IMHO -

I just found this tonight. I think it's a higher resolution, higher quality version of the video than the ones that have been around for the last year or so (sorry if this version is already up here, or on Rapidshare, and I just missed it). Vimeo says it was posted over a year ago, but maybe it was private for most of that time or something. I don't know how else we could have missed it. The screenshots don't really do it justice. This version looks really good.
