spaceball

if the file is named spaceball, it can't be copied

I get mine from the thumb. For example
right click the thumb and select properties. It will be something like this

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2081/...705dbdb9_s.jpg

From here you check and see what's available. Look at the end of the address _s.jpg by changing this you can get different sizes.

change the s to a b for the largest size but that may not be accessible. for example

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2081/...705dbdb9_b.jpg

If you get unavailable remove the _s and it will look like this

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2081/...67705dbdb9.jpg

I hope this helps

If you use Firefox go to Tools menu then Page Info. Under the Media tab there is a list of every picture on the page, complete with preview and Save button.

As I have noted in posts about this over at E&V, it is also sometimes possible, usually only on older flickr postings, to get the largest size by using _o.jpg on the end, rather than _b.jpg.

For those pics that will not enlarge, I can make the small pic larger using the zoom feature in my browser. If the original was larger size to begin with, there is usually no noticeable loss of quality. Then I take a snapshot of it on my screen and save that.

To save a photo that has a spaceball over it, when you right click, select the 'remove this object' That will remove the spaceball pix. Then save the photo as you normally would

I can't remove any objects either, but I have had good luck following the directions posted by hereyago and crispus. :):)

Great instructions, guys.

hereyago and crispus: I followed your instructions, and one of the 3 suggestions will always work for me. Like you said, you just have to figure out which of the three will work on a given file. THANKS! You broke their code.

crabbing and dognheat:
jbellen is talking about in Firefox if you have the add-on, Nuke Them All. Then if you right click, it lets you remove the spaceball GIF that Flickr places over some photos. Then you can download the picture in the size that you see it.

But follow hereyago and crispus' instructions, and you can download photos in their original upload sizes:), and they are usually a lot larger.

Thanks again, guys!

Many, many thanks to both of you!

Can you down load private files with that program?

Use Firefox, install Greasemonkey, and the "Allsizes +" script, right click then gives you the option to choose any of the available sizes regardless of spaceball.gif

That only gets you the public stuff.

Folks, there is also a way to batch download images from Flickr using a freeware program called Downloadr.

It's a handy little program to have and works perfectly. It allows you to point it at a Flickr account and download every image within its folders in one go. I can't post the link as I'm new here and the forum wont let me post urls until I have 10 posts but if you Google "downloadr" you will find it easily. Hope that helps some folk!!.

Oh and as I said, I'm new here so "Hi!!!". :)

Try Acdsee picture software

It allows you to view all picture files I've found so far, you can also view zip and rar files without unzipping them, I found it on a bittorrent site and it was easy to find.
