Special Mission- find the nude scene in HAIR
 

I've posted this here, because ideally there will be a video of this!

Firstly, Hair is a famous musical, with a famous nude scene. Secondly, it is very popular with students, and University drama groups- there are several productions a year. Thirdly, there are lots of great vids here of students nude on stage (games, initiatons etc) and also Nude theatre productions. BUT I've never found footage of the nude scene from hair... it must be out there, surely?

Footage from the play is everywhere- except the nude scene, damn it! This is somewhat of a "Holy Grail".

It can be good, full frontal mixed sex nudity too- often performed by amateurs.

Right, here is the clip (this itself is part 2) that builds up to the stripping scene. The music builds the tempo, and as you can see near the end they JUST start to strip... but where is part three! There obviously IS a part three...

Remarkable that not a single proper clip can be found... This play is on very often, probably the second or third most famous play with nudity (first being Oh Calcutta, a rival for second being Rocky Horror).

Yeah- this is a personal "quest" of mine. I saw Hair last year in Keswick, Cumbria (England) done by second year University drama students- before hand they were playing rounders (a game like basesball) outside, and so that was cool too- chatted to some of them etc.

But it really is an iconic nude scene- one of the most famous of all time. It has all the right elements, too. Stripping, live on stage, usually done by either professional actors or amateurs (students)- ie not phoney stripping, mixed nudity, full frontal nudity....

And yet, to my knowledge, there exists no footage on the web.

In the meantime, and so I'm not just bumping a thread with text, sit back and enjoy another clip from JUMPIN JAKS- an onstage strip game. I hope it hasn't been uploaded already. Sorry for the limited quality, but its the best I can do.

Found something a little better, but a LONG way from perfect. This is a wide view of the scene, with lots of singing and dancing- There is some topless stuff going on here... I think! It isn't easy to tell.

But anyway, this is the scene, as it happens at the end of the first half of the play. However, it is an interpretation- it certainly is NOT the "classic" nude scene.

From about 1:20 is the scene proper "Hare Krishna." The beginning of an iconic, ground breaking and world famous public/performance nudity scene.... of which no good video footage exists!

I am a big fan of nudity onstage so I have been following this thread...

I just ordered a bootleg of a broadway production of Hair. I am hoping that it will have a decent shot of the nude scene... If it does I will rip it and load it here for you guys... It should be here in a couple of weeks...

i know the movie has lots of nudity.... including som great shots of susan serandon in a skinny dipping enf scene

And Patrick_Kevin, I believe you mean Beverly D'Angelo... who does look great in the movie... but its not the thrill of live stage nudity...

Well, that confirms it. There definitely is a conspiracy surrounding this nude scene. Somebody's gotta take down the hippie cabal. :D

I have a friend that produced an amateur production of this show about a year ago... I never saw the production but I know they included the nude scene... This may take a while, because I don't know how blunt I can be, but I will somehow bring up the fact that I never saw the show and would be interested seeing the video... I will let you guys know if it works...

On a side note... I remember a college theater doing a production of Hair several years ago... They included the nudity but dimmed the lights so the actors were in silhouette. I saw a midnight performance and once the silhouetted actors had stripped about 5 or 6 audience members, who had apparently seen the production previously and were equally disappointed with the lack of nudity, pulled out mag lite flashlights and shined them on the actors. As they did that each actor was "spotlighted" and could be seen fully nude for a brief period... It was amazing in several different ways... A) It was actors who probably had to build up the nerve just to do silhouetted nudity, now fully exposed. B) It was totally unexpected...and C) I got to see one of the actresses whom I had a major crush on nude... Anyway... I will continue this journey of trying to find this video...there HAS to be one... I mean... COME ON...IT IS THE INTERNET....

That reminds me...Back in the late 60's/early 70's when I was living in San Francisco, I seem to remember a local theater company who performed Hair for a couple of weeks in a neighborhood theater. The highlight was when the lights were dimmed a bit, the audience was invited to join the cast onstage and disrobe with them. Unfortunately, by the time I learned of it, they had finished their run. Anyway, in those days, a high tech recording device was a bulky 8mm camera with a 500 watt flood light bar. Not too stealthy.

I do have a 10mb FLV clip, I've tried to upload it twice, both times it didn't work. Second time I had sent about 20mb of date, and it had taken half an hour already, so I quit.

I'll try again in the early hours of the morning, when my connection is fastest.

Short answer is no!

There seems to be a wealth of arty farty avante guard nudity in theatre around (Vimo etc), but for some reason, nothing from Hair. It's a common enough production, but footage of any nude scenes is still ellusive.

well Im a big fan of on stage nudity myself, I always make use of my continuous visits to London to search and attend stage productions of plays that contains nudity. I have added some scenes that I saw in CNDB.com massage board and also here, yet I didn't have the chance to see "Hair", I hope there will be near production in London soon.
